Abstract: Organic micropollutants (OMs) occur in waters at trace concentrations, ranging from a few ng/L to several g/L, but pose a serious threat and toxic effects to the environment and human health. The current problem is the low efficiency of Ms removal in wastewater treatment plants. Therefore, it is a need of developing new materials capable of uptaking OMs in a sufficient way. In the project synthetic zeolites and zeolite-carbon composites from fly ash modified with cyclodextrins are proposed as adsorbents for OMs. The materials will be characterized in terms of chemical, mineral and textural properties. Sorption performance of the adsorbents towards selected OMs will be examined. Obtained results will be a basis for the development of novel adsorbents dedicated to OMs removal from wastewaters and development of dyscipline of environmental engineering, mining and energy. Project realization will strengthen an international cooperation between Lublin University of Technology and University of Oulu.
