Abstract: The aim of the scientific activity planned to be implemented in the field of automation, electronics and electrical engineering is to analyze the impact of the apodization of Bragg grating on their spectral properties based on the performed experimental studies and numerical models of these structures. The scope of research works planned in the project will allow to obtain new knowledge on the use of shutters and the possibility of modifying the apodization profile. Correctly selected apodization function will allow to obtain specific spectral characteristics of the Bragg grating. The apodization, which is a parameter of the Bragg grating, results from the magnitude of the refractive index changes along the length of the entire structure and from the envelope of the refractive index amplitude changes, which together determine the effective refractive index. In the classic approach, the change of the apodization profile is associated with the need to design and purchase specific phase masks, which greatly increases the cost of the subsequent production of optical fiber structures. In the proposed method, the modification of the apodization function will be performed by using a shutter with a specific profile, placed in the path of the UV laser beam. This will enable the production of Bragg gratings with different spectral characteristics produced with the use of only one phase mask.
