Abstract: The subject of the doctoral thesis concerns high-temperature gas-cooled nuclear reactors (HTGR). The design of a new, research HTGR reactor, which is the basis for implementation work, has been included in the National Energy and Climate Plan until 2030. Implementation, in the form of a technology demonstrator, is planned at the National Center for Nuclear Research. Commercial implementation of HTGR will include the production of industrial heat, electricity and hydrogen. The problem addressed in the doctoral thesis is the issue of reliability and operational availability of systems important for the safety of HTGR during the reactor's life cycle, i.e. several dozen years. The scientific goal is to develop a new methodological approach to probabilistic safety and reliability analyses for HTGR, allowing for the consideration of a wider spectrum of physical phenomena leading to failures of systems important for safety and the conditions of their operation, maintenance and repair. The project is implemented in the field of engineering and technical sciences in the discipline of automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies.
