Abstract: The Laboratory of Intelligent Diagnostic Systems in High-Voltage Engineering (LabTech) will be established to conduct industrial research/development work within the scientific discipline of automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies. The implementation of the project, through conducting highly advanced R&D work in cooperation with enterprises, will contribute to the development of intelligent diagnostic systems that allow for the control of the technical condition of newly manufactured and already used power devices in electricity transmission/distribution systems, including the use of the harmful insulating medium SF6 gas. Intelligent systems for predicting failures of power devices used by DSOs and electricity will reduce the number/duration of power supply interruptions to end users and improve the quality of life in the region. The creation of a unique laboratory on a national scale, where it will be possible to conduct R&D research in the field of innovative systems for monitoring parameters and managing the power grid infrastructure, will allow for the elevation of the province. Lublin to the rank of a significant research and development centre in the field of high-voltage (HV) engineering in the country and worldwide, which is in keeping with the growth of the region's economic and financial potential. LabTech will conduct R&D work on new materials/sensors and real-time monitoring systems for electrical and non-electrical quantities, independently and in cooperation with companies from the region, including: Elektromontaż Lublin, Elpar Parczew, EnergoTech Lbn or Elektra Lbn as well as nationwide (TeleFonika Kable S.A.), including tests of equipment for HV transmission and distribution networks of electricity and medium/high voltage distribution devices. As part of the project, 4 research stations (henceforth ST) will be created along with the main equipment listed below: ST1 for testing thermal short-circuit strength, static voltage strength, impulse voltage strength and impulse current strength of HV power devices (including an impulse generator); ST2 for environmental testing of HV power devices (including a climatic chamber); ST3 control and measurement for use in the diagnostics of power network devices and elements (including an optical spectrum analyser) ST4 for imaging in the THz wave range (including a camera operating in the THz range with instrumentation).
