Abstract: The subject of the project is the continuation of the creation and expansion of the “Database on the contents of Polish technical journals BazTech”, registering and making available online free of charge descriptions of articles from 767 Polish scientific journals, trade journals and post-conference materials published by scientific units, scientific and research institutes, committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences, scientific associations. The main objective is to develop the BazTech database, i.e. to make information about publications in Polish technical journals widely available on the Internet free of charge, including recording citations and making full texts of indexed articles available in accordance with copyright law. The specific objectives are: to provide a complete and reliable source of information on scientific publications and popularization works appearing in Polish journals in the technical sciences, science and environmental protection; to promote and popularize the achievements of Polish scientific and technical thought; to stimulate public interest in the results of research through non-organic access to information on publications; to actively contribute to the development of open science (open access) and e-learning by expanding the database into an open full-text collection; to enable bibliometric analysis through the registration of citations (appendix bibliographies).

The effects of the project will consist of a product in the form of an expanded BazTech database, a long-term impact translating into better information of the public about scientific achievements in technical sciences, and measurable results in 2024-2026: an increase in the records of articles in the database by more than 30 thousand, the addition of about 19,000 pre-2005 records with appendix bibliographies, the addition of about 5,700 pre-2005 records with affiliations, the expansion of the collection of technical science articles published in the open model through negotiations with about 60 journal publishers, the addition of DOI numbers in records and ORCID author identifiers, and the addition of about 3,000 PDF files with full texts to archival yearbooks. By using the OAIPMH open standard, BazTech data is indexed by other bibliographic and full-text resource aggregation services, such as Google Scholar.
