Abstract: The aim of the research project is to develop an innovative method for measuring aircraft take-off and landing distances. The method is based on artificial neural networks and on the measurement of parameters describing the kinematics of the motion - flight of the aircraft. The project is carried out under the discipline of mechanical engineering. The artificial neural network model, trained on the basis of the measurement results, recognizes the characteristic time points of the flight, in particular the moment of the start of the roll-off and lift-off, as well as the touchdown and stopping moments. On this basis, the microcomputer included in the device calculates the run-up distance or the run-up distance using the signal from the GPS / RTK sensor. So far, a preliminary version of the method and device has been developed, which was used in the applicant's research work. However, as part of the presented project, it is planned to develop a final version, which will be characterized by better operational reliability, higher accuracy and will have fixed calibration characteristics obtained through calibration carried out in cooperation with the GUM (Główny Urząd Miar). In this regard, it is planned to develop a calibration stand for the IMUMETER device and to carry out calibration measurements. The IMUMETER device will be modified to obtain airworthiness certificates in accordance with the requirements of Urząd Lotnictwa Cywilnego in the field of measurement and testing equipment used for flight tests of airplanes. The final effect of the project in the form of a complete measurement methodology and a certified measuring device will be used in the aviation industry, in the process of testing and certification of new aircraft.
