Abstract: Within the PhD work, which is being carried out in the discipline of mechanical engineering,  various construction of catalytic baskets will be proposed for use in the selective catalytic reduction of NOx reactor, made in cooperation  the Łukasiewicz-INS with the Lublin University of Technology, and to test them in a laboratory plant in the temperature range of 250-450 °C, using the stream of real tail gases from the nitric acid plant. Based on the results obtained will be selected basket for industrial. As part of the PhD thesis, for the samples baskets will be made strength calculations. Non-destructive tests of the welds of the basket structure will be performed before and after the tests in operational conditions, with take attention on structural changes in the subsurface and subsurface zones, and also micro and macroscopic destructive tests. The wall thicknesses of the basket will also be tested before and after the tests in order to check wall thinning due to the gas flow velocity. Before the laboratory test of samples baskets will be made CFD calculations of  flow gas simulation in SCR reactor. It is also considers, extend the work with a basket design solution for two types of catalysts: NOx reduction and N2O decomposition. The potential area of the application of the developed basket for the selective reduction of NOx are new and existing nitric acid plants. The implementation of the basket will not require the expensive modifications of the installation. In most nitric acid plants, it will be possible to install it in an existing reactor for the selective catalytic reduction of NOx.
