Abstract: The objective of this project is to create an International Network for Knowledge and Comparative Socioeconomic Analysis of Informality and the Policies to be Implemented for their Formalization in the European Union and Latin America -INSEAI -, with the participation of groups of academics from universities and technicians and researchers from companies, research centers, supranational entities, and NGOs, involved in this subject or the tools necessary for the advancement of their knowledge. This network proposes an interdisciplinary and intersectoral approach to informality to observe not only the already analyzed differences in terms of productivity and quality of employment in a comparative manner between Europe and Latin America but also to decipher how a set of social inequalities interact with informality, resulting in an accentuation of social inequalities in terms of material well-being and the scope and role of current employment policies as well as the role of sectors and actors, employers, trade unions and social partners, in this modulation.  The network brings together research and intervention interests in the form of academic institutions and sectors of civil society: trade unions, companies, and international organisations, to understand the convergences and divergences, similarities and differences in the structuring of labour markets in regions with different degrees of development - in the European Union and Latin America - and the policies that have faced, or failed to face, the profound structural changes of the last decades at a global level.
