As part of the "Science for Society" project, scientists from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Lublin University of Technology, Prof. Tomasz Garbacz and Dr. Eng. Michał Jan Gęca, participated in the Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEX) in Thailand.
The fair took place on February 2-6, 2024, bringing together innovators from around the world. IPITEX is organized by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), which is a government organization operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation in Thailand. This year, representatives from 25 countries presented a total of 608 inventions. Most of them were presented by Malaysia and Indonesia.
Prof. Tomasz Garbacz, representing the team from the Department of Polymer Processing, presented an invention concerning machines and devices and a method of producing products from new polymer-mineral compositions. The innovative solution of the group of scientists was awarded a Gold Medal by the National Research Council of Thailand and a "Certificate of Recognition" for an outstanding invention from the Research Institute of Creative Education Vietnam. The presented invention received also 3 special awards from Hong Kong Yan Chai Steam Faire, National University of Science and Technology in Bucharest and Manila Young Inventors Association from the Philippines.
Dr. Eng. Michał Gęca from the Department of Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Aviation Propulsion Systems presented the invention submitted together with Dr. Eng. Konrad Pietrykowski under the name "Modular wind turbine with a vertical axis of rotation". The innovative solution in the field of renewable energy sources has greater efficiency compared to wind turbines with a constant blade working surface. The wind turbine, intended mainly for households located in urban areas, was very popular.
Dr. Eng. Michał Jan Gęca was also asked to present the invention in the form of a presentation at an additional session of IPITEX 2024 on February 5, 2024.
On February 2, the Polish stand was visited by Mr. Kamil Zych, Second Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Bangkok. Participation in the fair ended with a visit to the Embassy and a conversation with Ambassador Artur Dmochowski and Councilor Monika Krzywicka, who assured the support of the Polish Embassy in promoting innovative projects in Thailand.
