On March 4, 2024, a meeting of the Rotary Club Lublin Centrum was held within the walls of Lublin University of Technology.

Rotary International is an organization of leaders in their professional and social environments; everyone regardless of race, religious or political beliefs. These are people focused on implementing ethical attitudes at work and in social activities, acting for the benefit of their communities, promoting the idea of understanding and peace as well as charitable assistance on a local and international scale.

The Rotarian's code of ethics is the "4 Question Test", derived from American business experience and in force since 1943, which reads: "Is everything we think, say and do true? Is it fair? Does it build good will and friendship? Is it beneficial to all concerned?”

The first Rotary International club, founded by lawyer Paul Harris, was created out of a need for friendship in Chicago in 1905. The desire for wise friendship turned out to be so great that the organization is constantly developing and today it numbers 1.4 million people associated in 46,000 autonomous Rotary Clubs in over 200 countries and geographical regions of the world. The headquarters coordinating the clubs' activities is located in Evanston, Illinois, USA, and we are Rotary Club Lublin Centrum (http://www.rotary.lublin.pl/index.php).

Lublin University of Technology and the Club have a rich history of mutual contacts, excellent membership of scientists, such as: Prof. Piotr Kacejko (organizer of the meeting), Prof. Adam Wasilewski and Prof. Jan Wrana from Krakow (architecture), as well as common interests falling within the package of issues called University Social Responsibility (USR).

Many Rotarians are graduates, colleagues and students of LUT. Hence the initiative to meet at the University, which also stems from respect for the achievements of Lublin University of Technology, the desire to get acquainted "first-hand" with the main issues it deals with, as well as the need to talk about the possibilities of cooperation in promoting it as an international organization in the global dimension of Rotary International.

Prof. Zbigniew Pater presented today's image of Lublin University of Technology in the scientific, research, teaching, investment and social fields, with numerous references to national and international comparative aspects. LUT is a university with a 70-year history, during which it has produced almost 68,000 graduates. It is one of the national leaders in terms of the number of patents, especially in the fields of mechanical, civil and transport engineering (129 in 2023). It dynamically develops directions that are synonymous with modernity. By 2028, a futuristic IT Tower building will be built here. Eighteen scientists from LUT are included in the elite group of 2% of world-class scientists. It was the only university from Lublin to be included in the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2024. This year, it also received the honorable title of Ambassador of the Lublin Voivodeship.

At the end of the meeting, the club representatives handed over "Diploma of Recognition", in which it was written:

"In recognition of being outstanding, expressed, among others, by a record number of patents, accurately reading the trends and needs of today; for activity in the field of University Social Responsibility, which is particularly appreciated by Rotary International, including promoting the idea of sustainable development; for all achievements in scientific, teaching and social work, confirmed by a high position in the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2024. Create hope in the world!”.
