We are the first in the "patent" ranking

The Patent Office of the Republic of Poland summed up the activity of European enterprises as well as research and development units in the field of innovation and protection of inventions.

In 2021, the number of patents for inventions and protection rights for utility models granted by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland amounted to nearly 3,244. Lublin University of Technology turned out to be the most active entity in the country, taking 1st place. Our university has registered 15 patents more than Lodz University of Technology, which comes in second place.

Our University employees received 136 decisions on granting a patent. Most  patents (50) went to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Further applications come from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (39) and the Faculty of Environmental Engineering (31).

Examples of solutions developed at Lublin University of Technology are: a method of foaming asphalt with the use of a two-component mineral additive, a device for rolling steel bars, or a method of reducing the risk of injuries caused by a fall or their consequences. Another solution proposed by the Lublin scientists is the use of ashes as functionalized materials used in environmental engineering, construction and agriculture.

This year, the patent activity of Lublin University of Technology was also appreciated by the "Perspektywy" Education Foundation, which again included our university among the leading units distinguished by innovation. In the ranking of universities published in June 2022, Lublin University of Technology was ranked 3rd in the inventiveness category.
