In SLA or stereolithography, the main roles are played by the resin and the light source. This is a process that hardens liquid resin using a laser beam reflected by a mirror. The technology guarantees not only good quality, but also the ability to reproduce the smallest details of printed models.
Students of Lublin University of Technology, who took part in special workshops, learned how to operate and create parts from a 3D resin printer. It was organized by members of the Student Science Club of Engineering Graphics and Computer Animation "AnimGRAF", which operates at the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology.
– Resin printing is a completely different technological process than 3D filament printing. Therefore, I am glad that I could show the participants the entire production process, from modeling objects in Inventor program, through preparing files for printing, to printing on a resin printer - says Piotr Szopa from the "AnimGRAF" science club.
How does this printing process work?
– The printing of a given element is done layer by layer. The liquid resin is hardened using ultraviolet light. It is emitted by a special matrix. Thanks to the movable table, the element is hardened by liquid resin - explains Piotr Szopa.
Magdalena Paśnikowska-Łukaszuk, MSc., the club's supervisor, emphasizes that 3D modeling is currently one of the fastest developing fields of technology. The demand for specialists in this field is huge, which makes workshops crucial for the development of students' competences.
– Participation in such classes provides a lot of practical knowledge and the opportunity to develop skills in the areas of computer graphics, animation and 3D printing – admits Paśnikowska-Łukaszuk.
As the scientist points out, 3D resin printing opens new opportunities for engineers, designers and entrepreneurs, enabling the implementation of projects of the highest quality and precision.
