Santander Awards for our students

17.05.2023

In the coming days, recruitment for Santander Scholarships will be launched at Lublin University of Technology.

On Monday, May 15, in the Rector's Office of Lublin University of Technology, a cooperation agreement was signed between the University and the Santander Foundation. On behalf of the University, the document was signed by Prof. Zbigniew Pater, rector of LUT. The Foundation was represented by Wojciech Leśniewski, director of Santander Universidades.

Santander will provide the Lublin university with funds for one-time financial awards for students with high academic results and who are also involved in the university.

– For 11 years we have been supporting academic communities, e.g. in the development of key competences that we as employers will expect in connection with the dynamic digital transformation or sustainable economy. Today, many new industries are emerging. Research shows that in the next 4 years, about 82 million jobs will disappear, but new ones will be created, where completely different competences will be needed - emphasizes Wojciech Leśniewski, director of Santander Universidades.

What are the competencies? - Social competences such as empathy, the ability to talk to clients, how to deal with crisis situations, cooperation and negotiations will be the key – answered Wojciech Leśniewski.

Prof. Zbigniew Pater does not hide his satisfaction with the cooperation with Santander Universidades: – I am very pleased with this initiative. We start cooperation in the field of developing new competences and supporting the culture of entrepreneurship. Our students will have a chance to raise their professional qualifications. This will make it easier for them to find their way into the labor market.

From the funds provided by Santander, Lublin University of Technology will award 25 prizes in the amount of PLN 2,000 each: 5 prizes will go to first-year students who start their studies in the academic year 2023/2024 and 20 prizes to other students of LUT.

– The Santander Award is a distinction and support for our talented students who are involved in scientific and social activities. They will be able to use the funds to develop their talents and interests as well as to use the acquired knowledge in practice - informs Prof. Paweł Droździel, vice-rector for student affairs.

The competition will start in the coming days.
