On September 19, 2023 the University of Žilina celebrated its 70th anniversary. A delegation from Lublin University of Technology attended the anniversary celebrations: Prof. Paweł Droździel, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, and Prof. Anna Rudawska from the Department of Information Technology and Robotics in Production.

– The University of Žilina is an important partner with which many of our scientists cooperate, especially from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. We greatly value our mutual relations which have lasted for 28 years. We implement many joint projects, organize conferences, and exchange students and employees under the Erasmus+ program - emphasizes Prof. Paweł Droździel, who is a member of the Scientific Council of the University of Žilina for the term 2022-2026.

In his commemorative address on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the University of Žilina, Prof. Zbigniew Pater, Rector of Lublin University of Technology, stated the following: “I warmly congratulate the University of Žilina on this extraordinary Jubilee, and at the same time express my appreciation for the comprehensive activities of the University contributing significantly to the development of Slovak higher education and building the international position of the University”.

During the ceremony, the Rector of the University of Žilina honored Lublin University of Technology with a commemorative medal, which is an expression of appreciation for many years of cooperation.

In turn, on September 20, 2023, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Žilina also celebrated its 70th anniversary. On this occasion, Prof. Milan Sága, the dean of the faculty, presented awards to people who have been involved in cooperation with the Faculty in a special way and at various levels. Among the distinguished people were scientists from LUT: Prof. Paweł Droździel and Prof. Anna Rudawska.

– It is a great honor for me, but also an obligation for further intensive cooperation with the community. We have just concluded talks with our Slovak colleagues who offered us participation in a new project devoted to robotization and automation of production. I sincerely thank them for their efforts, time and patience. Working with other people is extremely important. If we are not in a team, if we do not cooperate, we will not achieve much - says Prof. Paweł Droździel.

The University of Žilina is one of the leading educational and scientific institutions in Slovakia. Currently, approximately 8,000 students study at 7 faculties and 172 fields of study. Within the 70 years of its existence, over 88,000 graduates have left the university, specializing mainly in transport and technical fields, as well as in management, marketing and humanities. The university has signed bilateral agreements with over 50 countries around the world, including Lublin University of Technology.
