Rectors of Ukrainian universities interested in cooperation with our university

Rectors, scientists and administrative staff of eight Ukrainian universities from areas affected by war or threatened by direct hostilities visited our university on October 27, 2023.

The aim of the meeting was to exchange experiences, discuss future cooperation and present the potential of Lublin University of Technology. – This visit is of particular importance to us, due to the difficult situation of Ukraine. Ukrainian universities not only continue their activities, but also play a key role in maintaining the continuity of education and scientific research. We want to help them in these activities - says the rector of Lublin University of Technology, Prof. Zbigniew Pater.

The guests represented the following universities: National University "Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic", Bogdan Khmelnitsky Melitopol State Pedagogical University, Mariupol State University, Nadazov State Technical University, Kherson National Technical University, National University of Shipbuilding named after Admiral Makarov, Odessa National Technological University and Izmail State University of Humanities.

The Rector emphasizes that the visit was a unique opportunity to present the potential and main directions of development of our university. It was also a good moment to summarize the current cooperation with academic and research centers from Ukraine.

– We shared our experience in managing important areas of university operation. We presented good practices related to strategic planning of university development, recruiting and retaining employees, the quality system of education and scientific research, cooperation with the external environment, obtaining grants and commercialization of knowledge. This is valuable information that may support Ukrainian universities in their further development - says Prof. Zbigniew Pater.

The guests were also interested in how Polish universities prepared for Poland's accession to the European Union and what benefits this membership brought them.

After the official part, the Ukrainian delegation visited the campus. The guests visited, among others, a laboratory with a wind tunnel. As rector Pater points out, the visit emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the field of science and education. It was also proof that Lublin University of Technology is a place that willingly shares its knowledge and experience with partners from various parts of the world.

The Ukrainian guests stayed in Poland at the invitation of the Management Initiatives Foundation. The visit was financed by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation as part of the “Study Tours to Poland” program.
