On January 16, 2024, the “Orły Wprost” Awards Gala of the Lublin Voivodeship (Eagles of "Wprost" magazine) took place at the ATELIA Banquet & Catering Center in Lublin. This prestigious title honors people, companies and non-governmental organizations that have an exceptional impact on the local community.
The winner of the award in the SCIENCE category is Prof. Zbigniew Pater, rector of LUT.
He won the recognition of the jury "for the programs initiated and conducted by his university, which not only raise the level of technical and technological education, but also constitute an element integrating the communities of many higher education institutions and universities in Eastern Poland".
As we read further in the justification, this is, among others, the Via Carpatia Polytechnic Network, which operates in the areas of education, science and commercialization. The universities associated in it become competitive on the global market and significantly improve the quality of social life, with particular emphasis on Eastern Poland.
The jury also drew attention to the Polish Metrological Union (PUM), whose aim is to act in the area of Polish metrology, set directions for research and development, promote innovation and support staff development. The creation of the Union allows for the integration, initiation and implementation of joint activities of many research centers and institutions in the field of metrology and measurement techniques.
- Of course, what is important is that our initiatives are appreciated. But I would not have been able to implement them without the support and commitment of the University's employees. Therefore, I treat this award as recognition of the achievements of our entire community. Thanks to the joint effort, Lublin University of Technology has become a strong partner and leader in the field of science in the Lublin region - says Prof. Zbigniew Pater.
The Eagle of "Wprost" magazine went also to the Robotics Academy as the REGION'S BUSINESS CARD. Its vice-president is Dariusz Głuchowski, M.A., a scientist from the Department of Applied Computer Science of Lublin University of Technology. The statuette was awarded for “promoting science, technology and innovation in Poland”.
The editorial team of "Wprost" has been organizing the gala since 2016. The statuettes are awarded in recognition of exceptional activity in the field of entrepreneurship, local government activities, scientific activities as well as promotion of the region.
