The President of the Republic of Poland, by decision of February 2, 2024, granted the title of professor of engineering and technical sciences in the discipline of civil engineering, geodesy and transport to Paweł Droździel.

Prof. Paweł Droździel is the head of the Department of Sustainable Transport and Energy Sources. From 2008 to 2016, he served as vice-dean for general and student affairs at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. He obtained his doctorate in technical sciences in 1998, and a decade later he defended his habilitation thesis at the Faculty of Operation and Economics of Transport and Communications of the University of Žilina in Slovakia.

In his scientific work, he deals with issues of tribology, durability, economic aspects, ecological threats, safety and social issues in the construction and operation of road means of transport.

His scientific achievements include 395 scientific and popular science publications, including 5 monographs. The number of articles indexed in the WoS database is 74, and in the SCOPUS database - 18. He is the co-author of 6 textbooks and teaching scripts for students in the field of engineering graphics.

Supervisor of 1 doctoral thesis, reviewer of 7 habilitation theses and 18 doctoral theses.

He works in the Polish Operational and Systems Research Society, Polish Scientific Society of Combustion Engines, the Section of Fundamentals of Operation of the Machine Construction Committee and Section of Electromobility and Autonomous Transport of the Transport Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is a member of the Lublin Cluster of Advanced Aviation Technologies, as well as the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Operation and Economics of Transport and Communications of the University of Žilina. He also belongs to the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Salzburg.

For his scientific, teaching, organizational and social work, he received over 40 awards and distinctions from the rector of Lublin University of Technology, as well as: Medal of the Lublin Union - in recognition of his valuable contribution to building a support system for the elderly in Lublin, a commemorative medal of the rector of the University of Žilina for cooperation and contributions to the development of the local Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Operation and Economics of Transport and Communications.

As noted by Prof. Paweł Droździel, receiving the title of professor is an extremely important moment in a scientific career.

– This is not only personal satisfaction, but also a breakthrough step in my professional life. This title is the result of many years of hard work and dedication to science and education - says the scientist.

As the vice-rector assures, he treats the title of professor as an obligation to continue research and teaching.
