On October 26, 2023, Lublin University of Technology was visited by Prof. Marcin Sobczak, deputy director of the National Center for Research and Development (NCBR). The meeting aimed to discuss current challenges related to the implementation of projects financed by NCBR and to promote the active participation of universities in the process of assessing applications and creating new forms of project financing.

The meeting was attended by representatives of universities from the Association of Lublin Universities, including: Prof. Wojciech Franus, vice-rector for science of Lublin University of Technology, Prof. Wiesław Gruszecki, vice-rector for science and international cooperation of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Prof. Adam Waśko, vice-rector for development of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin and Prof. Tomasz Klepka, head of the Department of Polymer Processing of LUT. The event was also attended by representatives of university units supporting scientists in applying for funds for research and its commercialization, including: Paweł Chrapowicki, director of the Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer of Lublin University of Technology and Renata Piórowska, head of the Grant Support Unit of the Medical University of Lublin.

During the meeting, issues related to difficulties encountered by teams implementing projects at various stages were raised. Prof. Marcin Sobczak encouraged university representatives to get involved not only in the process of submitting applications for funding, but also in assessing applications as experts. He emphasized that the knowledge of specialists who evaluate applications is extremely important for the efficient operation of NCBR.

The meeting was also an excellent opportunity to present new ideas for forms of project financing that are aimed at increasing the possibilities of cooperation between the scientific and business communities. This cooperation is intended to contribute to the effective commercialization of project results after their completion.
