Professor Józef Kuczmaszewski, rector of Lublin University of Technology between 2002-2008, specialist in the field of construction and technology of adhesive bonding of construction materials, especially for the aviation industry, joined the group of honorary doctors of Cracow University of Technology.

The ceremony took place on October 21, 2022 at the Collegium Maius of the Jagiellonian University. The event was attended by Prof. Zbigniew Pater, the present rector of Lublin University of Technology, and also some employees of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, in particular the Department of Fundamentals of Production Engineering.

In his laudation, Prof. Sebastian Skoczypiec, the head of the Department of Production Engineering and Automation at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of CUT, drew attention to the unique features of Professor Józef Kuczmaszewski: - The Professor is a man of the university, a man with extensive knowledge, experience and competences, a reliable man with high personal culture, a man sensitive to the needs of others, a man with a sense of a special public mission in the hands of academic community, aware of the hardships, responsibility, glory, but also dangers associated with the realization of his scientific passion.

Prof. Józef Kuczmaszewski has been cooperating intensively for over 30 years with Cracow University of Technology and its researchers, incl. Prof. Józef Gawlik. In 1988, he completed a research and didactic internship at the university. Since then, he has been systematically taking part in symposia "Plastics in machine construction" organized by CUT. He prepared reviews of 5 doctoral dissertations, opinions in 3 habilitation proceedings and 3 proceedings for awarding the title of professor. He actively supported the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of CUT in its efforts to obtain the first authorization in Poland to confer doctoral and postdoctoral degrees in the discipline of production engineering.
