Our scientists among national innovators

Over 450 representatives of the world of science, industry and business met on October 19-20, 2023 in Uniejów at the 8th Smart Growth Forum. It was a scientific and technological event that focused on innovative scientific research and technologies that not only have market potential, but above all can significantly improve the quality of our lives.

The culmination of this year's edition was a gala during which statuettes and certificates of the "Polish Intelligent Development Award" and the "Scientist of the Future" award were presented.

During the Forum, researchers from Lublin University of Technology received as many as four awards.

Prof. Małgorzata Franus from the Department of General Construction and Ksenia Siadkowska, MSc. Eng., a PhD student of Lublin University of Technology, received the title "Scientist of the Future 2023" in the "Woman of science who changes the world" category.

Prof. Małgorzata Franus was appreciated for her scientific achievements and the realization of innovative research and development projects implemented into economic practice, as well as creating a positive and interesting image of Polish science among the public.

In turn, Ksenia Siadkowska, MSc. Eng., was awarded for the implementation of the project entitled "Development of technologies for increasing the aerodynamic performance of rotorcraft", and the approach to implementing its results into economic practice.

MSAGroup, under the supervision of Prof. Wojciech Franus, vice-rector for science, won the prestigious "Scientist of the Future 2023" award in the "Research team of the future" category. This distinction was awarded for projects related to the synthesis and application of porous materials in construction and environmental engineering. In addition to its scientific achievements, the team received an award for promoting and disseminating the results of scientific work among the entire society.

Another winner is the research team of the project "Supporting education in type 1 diabetes in adolescents - T1DCoach mobile application", coordinated by Prof. Marek Miłosz from the Department of Computer Science of Lublin University of Technology. This group of scientists received a distinction in the "Social innovations" category for a project aimed at shaping correct behavioral habits in patients suffering from type 1 diabetes. The T1DCoach project is an undertaking that has the potential to positively impact the lives of a large group of society by improving the quality of care for people with diabetes.

Prof. Zbigniew Pater, rector of Lublin University of Technology, is satisfied with the scientists' achievements: – This event confirmed that the research work carried out at our university is not only innovative, but also has real market potential, which translates into specific benefits for the society. The Rector emphasizes that Lublin University of Technology always focuses on investing in talented researchers and supporting their development.

The organizer of the 8th Intelligent Development Forum was the Intelligent Development Center, in cooperation with the Intelligent Development Forum Foundation. The main partner was the National Center for Research and Development.
