LUT with a very good evaluation result

03.02.2023

Two A+ categories, four A categories and one B+ category. This is the final result of Lublin University of Technology in scientific evaluation.

– This is excellent news. The enormous effort put into preparing the appeals paid off. I don't know if any technical university in Poland has such an excellent result – stresses Prof. Zbigniew Pater, rector of Lublin University of Technology. And he reminds that it is the scientific categories that determine the right to award academic degrees, as well as the amount of the subsidy.

In July 2022, the Ministry of Education and Science granted our university with two A+ categories, two A categories and three B+ categories.

–Two disciplines: environmental engineering, mining and power engineering as well as management and quality science were awarded the B+ category. We found it hurtful. The doubts concerned mainly the assessment of criterion III, i.e. the impact of scientific activity on the functioning of society and the economy. That's why we appealed. We are glad that our arguments were accepted, because thanks to this, the categories of the above mentioned disciplines were increased to A - says Prof. Wojciech Franus, vice-rector for science.

Currently, out of the 7 evaluated scientific disciplines, Lublin University of Technology has finally obtained the highest A+ category in two disciplines:

  • mechanical engineering,
  • civil engineering and transport.

And category A in four disciplines:

  • automatics, electronics and electrical engineering,
  • technical informatics and telecommunications,
  • environmental engineering, mining and power engineering,
  • management and quality science.

The youngest scientific discipline practiced at Lublin University of Technology - architecture and urban planning - was awarded the B+ category.

– The final results of the evaluation show that our activities make sense. Therefore, we will consistently develop the incentive system and pro-quality programs that will be adapted to the current situation of the university - emphasizes Prof. Zbigniew Pater, rector of LUT.
