Lublin University of Technology won the first place and became the Polish leader of the Research.com ranking. Gdańsk University of Technology, Opole University of Technology as well as Lodz University of Technology are behind us. We are in 184th position worldwide.
The ranking is based on the achievements of all leading academics associated with a given university. Over 3,637 profiles were tested for the discipline of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Scientists from over 502 institutions and affiliations were analyzed.
The list includes 9 people from Poland, including two researchers from our university: Prof. Tomasz Sadowski and Prof. Grzegorz Litak.
Prof. Tomasz Sadowski took 468th place in the world and 2nd place in Poland. He is the head of the Department of Solid State Mechanics at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture. He is engaged in research in the field of multi-scale modeling of the behavior of composite materials and engineering structures under mechanical and thermal loads. Author and co-author of 12 monographs, 11 chapters in monographs, 255 articles in peer-reviewed journals. His H-index in the Web of Science is 43 and his number of citations is 3,633.
Prof. Grzegorz Litak took 914th place in the world and 7th place in Poland. He is the head of the Department of Automation at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. He is an expert in the field of rotor dynamics as applied to rolling bearings and machining. In total, he published over 300 papers, including about 275 in international journals. His H-index in the Web of Science is 33 and his number of citations is 2,530.
The ranking is based on the meticulous research of scientists at Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic Graph (the best known and well-established bibliometric databases available to the scientific community). It is created on the basis of data on the H-index collected by Microsoft Academic and includes only eminent scientists with an H-index of at least 30 for scientific papers published in the field of mechanical and aerospace engineering. The H-index, one of the main criteria used in research, shows how efficient and effective a researcher is in his field.
- This is another ranking that confirms the high scientific effectiveness of our researchers. A group of 25 scientists from our university was included in the World's Top 2% Scientists ranking. The ranking list includes the names of 2% of the best researchers in the world, whose publications are most often cited by other authors - says Prof. Zbigniew Pater, rector of Lublin University of Technology.
Moreover, Lublin University of Technology can boast of the ELSEVIER Research Impact Leaders Award in the field of engineering and technical sciences. The award promotes the high quality of research and its internationalization. It is awarded to universities whose research makes the greatest contribution to the perception of Polish science in the world.
