Lublin Integration Days - joint initiative of Lublin universities

30.05.2023

On May 24, 2023, the 1st Lublin Integration Days began. This is the first initiative of this type in our city, organized jointly by five Lublin universities: Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Medical University of Lublin, University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Lublin University of Technology and Catholic University of Lublin. The main goal of this general academic project is to integrate university communities, as well as to increase awareness of issues related to accessibility, disability and diversity.

Prof. Zbigniew Pater, rector of Lublin University of Technology, spoke on behalf of the Union of Lublin Universities: – We cooperate intensively in many different fields and the synergy effect is visible. Synergy, which means that the impact of a group is greater than the sum of the effects of the activities of its individual members. (...) The academic community consists not only of rectors or vice-rectors, but above all thousands of employees and even greater numbers of students. Among this huge number, we have some people with disabilities and we are glad that today we are starting to integrate with their interests in mind. I hope that during today's event as many restrictions as possible will be identified and we will plan such solutions that we will then be able to implement.

An important part of the ceremony was the signing of an agreement on cooperation of the academic community for people with disabilities.
