On Saturday, May 13, 2023, the Jubilee Gala of Lublin University of Technology was held at the Center for the Meeting of Cultures. It began with a concert by Piotr Cugowski. This was followed by the premiere of the piece "Hello, World", specially composed for the 70th birthday of Lublin University of Technology.

“Hello, World” is a multimedia spectacle that was created in close cooperation of the composer and performers with scientists from LUT. The title is a reference to the name of the most primitive computer program in the world, whose only task was to display this inscription.

The spectacle showed artificial intelligence - a modern computer that, observing the world around it, analyzes it, turns it into lines of code and thus learns it, and finally replicates it.

– Its basis is the masterful fusion of computer sounds with vocal and instrumental parts, for which the composer of the piece, Piotr Bańka, is known. In the text layer, there is a source code created by programmers from Lublin University of Technology, in the form of a high-level programming language that reflects the machine learning of artificial intelligence - analyzing and processing the physical principles that govern our world. In this form, it becomes an element of the libretto of the piece, which is a combination of sounds generated in the computer's memory with "live" vocal and instrumental parts performed by soloists and a mixed choir - said Prof. Zbigniew Pater, rector of LUT.

The performers of the piece "De motu corporum" ("On the motion of bodies") by Piotr Bańka were: Academic Choir of Lublin University of Technology conducted by Elżbieta Krzemińska, Agnieszka Tyrawska - soprano, Aleksandra Barańska - oboe, Maciej Łacny - cello, UDS dancers - soloists, Anna Łukasiak - choreographer. The author of the multimedia presentation is Andrej Isakov from Wizja Multimedia.

During the gala, Lech Sprawka, the Lublin Voivode, awarded Lublin University of Technology with the "Diploma of Appreciation on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of its existence", inter alia for invaluable contribution to the development of science, ensuring the highest level of didactic, scientific and educational work.

The Board of the Lubelskie Voivodeship awarded our University with the "Commemorative Medal of the Lubelskie Voivodeship". The award was presented by the Deputy Marshal of the Lubelskie Voivodeship, Zbigniew Wojciechowski.

In turn, the President of the City of Lublin, Dr. Krzysztof Żuk "in recognition of the high level of academic education, implementation of innovative educational standards, special contribution to the development of the Polish economy, as well as strengthening the position of the City of Lublin as a strong scientific and research center", presented the rector with a medal "Meritorious for the City of Lublin".

The ceremony was also an opportunity to honor the current and former rectors of Lublin University of Technology. Diplomas of appreciation as well as medals from the Minister of Education and Science and the Lublin Voivode were awarded to:

as well as the current rector of LUT - Prof. Zbigniew Pater.

The jubilee banquet organized in the foyer, closing the Saturday evening spent at the Center for the Meeting of Cultures, allowed the guests to freely exchange thoughts and artistic impressions.
