05.03.2024

On February 28, 2024, Lublin University of Technology and the School and Kindergarten Complex No. 1 in Świdnik, which includes the Integration Kindergarten No. 5 and the Primary School No. 7, concluded a cooperation agreement. The university was represented by the vice-rector for student affairs, Prof. Paweł Droździel, and on behalf of the school the contract was signed by deputy director Hubert Wiktorowicz.

The agreement concerns the university's support for the education of preschoolers and pupils, as well as involving them in popular science projects. For them, it will be invaluable contact with the academic community. And for the university, it is an opportunity to identify and develop talents early.

– We offer interesting lectures, workshops and thematic events that will enrich the curriculum. We will invite the pupils to our studios and laboratories, and our lecturers will be happy to share their knowledge and experience. We want to bring young people closer to science, thanks to which they will learn about the academic environment they may enter in a few years - says Prof. Paweł Droździel.

Cooperation with Lublin University of Technology is a huge benefit for students.

– For the second year, our school has been involved in a project using the STEM method, the acronym of which comes from the English words: Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics. Its idea is to show the pupils how fascinating learning can be, by organizing lessons based on practical experiences and extracurricular activities, among others in robotics. Cooperation with Lublin University of Technology, a technical university with an extensive laboratory base and experts, fits perfectly into our activities - says deputy director Hubert Wiktorowicz.

As emphasized by Dr. Eng. Małgorzata Ciosmak from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, contact with the academic environment becomes an important experience for younger pupils.

– It is worth cultivating curiosity and interest in science from an early age, which can contribute to a more comprehensive development of young people – says the scientist.

In her opinion, cooperation enables children to engage earlier in learning and opens up many development opportunities for them.

– At the university they will encounter the latest technologies. Contact with scientists, students and various projects may be an impulse to undertake not only studies at LUT, but also later professional work at the university – argues Dr. Eng. Ciosmak.
